After the daily stand-up, What does a Scrum Master Do?

After the daily stand-up, What does a Scrum Master Do?

Are you wondering what a Scrum Master does after daily Agile stand-up? Ignoring all misconceptions about the Scrum Master’s life, this article will shed clear light on their day-to-day activities and responsibilities. So what really happens after the regular stand-up meeting end? Let’s find out!

Routine Briefing:

The Certified Scrum Product Owner and the team briefly update the project’s progress towards the routined Sprint Goal. The Scrum team also highlights the concerning issues in the stand-up meeting. Slowing them down. Overall, the routine briefing is concise and pacey to clarify the sprint’s progression. On the other hand, the product team removes the blockers to deliver maximum value.

Conduct Scrum of Scrums:

The primary responsibility of the Certified Scrum Master is to take necessary actions after finishing up the daily stand-up with the team. The professional then follows the scaled Agile technique called “Scrum of Scrums”.  This cross-team synchronization technique is perfect when multiple teams work on the same project. This helps him integrate several work activities done by different Scrum Teams. Scrum of Scrums increases the Agile team's productivity by helping them collaborate and coordinate their work with other teams. This leads to an opportunity to take a broad view of progressive development. The Scrum Master faces a pressing concern, following a piece of the codebase that is slowing the team’s progress in the sprint. The team takes notes and schedules a time to check on it.

Product Backlog Review:

An everyday Product Backlog review takes place with the Scrum Master. The hour-round discussion covers topics on how the Product Backlog Item (PBI) can be refined for the coming sprint. The Scrum Product Owner sometimes asks to push through a piece of work. It leads Scrum Masters to discuss the mechanics and cleave it into two following sprints. New plans for the Product Roadmap are released during the meeting. While it is essential for the engineers to stay focused on their everyday backlogs, tracking the team's progress toward the Product Goal is also a pressing issue.

Ad Hoc Team Catch-Up:

The Developers of the AdHoc team face some environmental access problems, leading everyone lost in their tracks. However, the Ad Hoc team is responsible for developing a strong sense of ownership with a shared understanding of the results. To develop effective bringing, the Scrum Master conducts catch-up sessions with the Ad Hoc team. He does all necessary preparations before he schedules the next Daily Scrum sprint meeting and keeps everyone on the same page. The data is organized and written over for the meeting rounded by the Scrum Team. All the resources for the demo, planning, and Sprint Retrospective data are pulled together.

Conduct Agile Coaching:

A couple of hours are set for Agile Training with the finance team. This part is the most fulfilling for any Agile Developer, to help larger businesses and non-technical people have better Learning on DevOps and Agile Workshop. These simple yet satisfying changes create a measuring difference to an Agile master’s day. When everyone can focus on more needed matters than scraping through manual processes.

The finance teams insist on having more Agile Practitioner to create an efficient workflow. But, it faces many challenges. For example, having to visualize the workflow for raising invoices. This bump can be smoothened by having a group discussion. The approach is replicated after a few more processes, which is to everyone’s satisfaction.

Prepare Report on The Burndown Chart:

Burndown charts represent the amount of work left to do vs. the amount of time it can take to finish the pending work activities. Naturally, as the Agile Leader,  the Scrum Master checks on the Scrum Team’s progress through the company’s online tracking software. Later sorting all his meetings, he prepares the needed data to create or modify the burndown chart. This is to ensure everyone is on time with their work. Finally, the Certified Scrum Product Owner sits to report day to days actions on a burnout chart. He compels to make sure that the work in progress is running on time with their product goal.

Summing Up: What Are The Day-Long Activities?

In addition to conducting Daily Scrum stand-ups, the professional also acts as an Agile Practitioner. He adheres to his Product Goal and Sprint Goal to act as a liaison between the Scrum Teams, Ad Hoc teams, and backend Developers. The day-long activities  of a Certified Scrum Master include:

  • Communicate with Scrum Teams to check the status of the progress made to active project goals.
  • Plan and organize the Product Backlog reviews on the Scrum board.
  • Make sure everyone in the team is assigned dedicated work responsibilities.
  • Connect with essential stakeholders and management to update the work progress.
  • Participate in frequent Agile Coaching and Agile Training sessions.

Now you know it isn’t only about conducting daily stand-ups. In fact, the professional has to do a lot throughout the day to ensure the daily stand-ups keep the work going smoothly and efficiently.
